2014 Draft Annual Action Plan Review
The 2014 Draft Annual Action Plan was presented to the Board at a public forum on Wednesday, November 20th @ 5:00 PM at the Dennis M. Coble Administration Building. Public comment on the Draft Annual Action Plan will be received through December 6, 2013. Comment may be submitted to the Superintendent by email at: email@example.com or by hard copy sent to: Superintendent, Dennis M. Coble Administration Building, 2606 Brady Lake Road, Ravenna, OH 44266.

Support the 2014 Polar Plunge for Special Olympics
Portage County DD is sponsoring a team to take a plunge in Lake Geneva on 2/22/13 for the Special Olympics! Gail McAlister, Local Coordinator, and some of her athletes will be jumping in to raise money for both the Ohio and Portage County Special Olympics programs.

Ohio Self Determination Association Survey
The Ohio Self Determination Association (OSDA) created a survey for people with disabilities and their family members and has asked our help to gain as broad a response as possible to their survey. OSDA is interested in learning about:
- the supports that work well,
- those things that are of concern and
- how respondents would like things to be different.
The survey has 6 questions and also asks for information about the person responding so that OSDA can know where respondents live in Ohio, and about the age and role (person with a disability, family member, other) of the person completing the survey. There is a place to provide name and email address, but it is not required. This is a chance for voices to be heard across Ohio.

The PCBDD Implements Email Encryption
In order to maintain the confidentiality of private information regarding the individuals we serve while ensuring compliance with privacy regulations such as HIPAA, the Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities has implemented a new email encryption service through Zix Corporation. This service will help us protect sensitive information such as social security numbers, account numbers, and medical information within our email communications.
