DODD Begins Posting Provider Compliance Reports
To help individuals and their families make well-informed choices about who provides services for their family member, DODD now is posting provider compliance reports on the Department’s website. Blue Bombers take the Bronze at State Games for Softball
The Blue Bombers participated in the State Games for Special Olympics on Saturday, September 13th in Oregon, Ohio. They lost their first game 18-8 to Franklin NW, even though Ben Salvo hit a Grand Slam Home Run! The second game was against Darke County DD. Logan Cox hit 3 HR’s, Dan Crawford hit 3 HR’s and Ben Salvo hit 1 HR to help the Bombers win 24-10 and secure 3rd place! Under the coaching of Jamie Alexander and Chad Konkle, the team made quite a name for themselves as a first year team! They had fun; they played well together, encouraged each other and had a few laughs along the way!
Way to go Bombers!!
Superintendent Search Initiated
The Board has initiated its Superintendent search to replace current Superintendent Pat Macke who will retire at the end of December. Notice of the Superintendent vacancy was posted on the Ohio Association of County Boards (OACB) website in mid August and sent to all 88 County Boards of DD. The Board has decided to interview five individuals from the applicant pool. The five individuals to be interviewed are: Donald L. Rice, Superintendent of the Geauga County Board of DD; Charles H. Frobose, Superintendent of the Crawford County Board of DD; John Schwartz, Director of Adult Programs and Facilities for the Huron County Board of DD, Omar Nagi, Adult Activities Services Manager for the Cuyahoga County Board of DD; and Kathleen Wilbraham, Executive Director Evant, Inc., Stow, Ohio.
First round interviews with three of the applicants were held on Wednesday, August 20th with the other two applicants to be interviewed on Tuesday, September 2. Second-round interviews will be held if deemed necessary. It is the Board’s intent to have the next Superintendent named by mid-September and to have a one-to-two month overlap with Superintendent Macke. The new Superintendent will assume official duties on January 1, 2015.
