Substitute Clerical
Location: Any PCBDD department
 
Example of Job Duties: Performs clerical tasks (e.g., sends out mail, opens and distributes mail; sorts, alphabetizes and files materials; does copy work; answers telephone and two-way radio; acts as receptionist). Types routine, repetitive materials (e.g., correspondence, forms, lists, route sheets, call sheets, cards, labels and envelopes, spreadsheets, etc.); proofs typing. Maintains office filing system and searches files for retrieval of material as needed.
 
Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED required. Clerical or office experience preferred.
 
Work Hours: On call as needed. Number of hours worked will vary based upon need and assignment.
 
 

 
Substitute Instructor Assistant
Location: Happy Day School
 
Example of Job Duties: Assists with the implementation of students' Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP), including data management, personal care, behavior management programming, and educational programming. Assists students with personal needs (i.e., mobility, physical and clothing needs such as positioning, feeding, toileting, bathing, getting on and off transportation vehicles). Assists in keeping records of services and student progress including data calculations. Assists in preparing materials needed for instruction. Uses copier & basic audiovisual equipment. Assists in maintaining classroom environment conducive to learning and free of health and safety hazards.
 
Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED required. Possession of a valid Ohio Department of Education Educational Aide Permit. Experience working with children with multiple developmental delays is preferred.
 
Physical Demands: Frequently required to stand, stoop, walk, lift and move children and objects up to 50 pounds. The individual must be able to safely transfer and position children in a variety of adaptive devices, car seats, and vehicles. Vision, hearing, and verbal communication skills necessary to effectively communicate and monitor children's behavior.
 
Work Hours: On call as needed. Number of hours worked will vary based upon need and assignment.
 

 
Substitute Instructor
Location: Happy Day School
 
Example of Job Duties: Implements instructional programming in a direct delivery format in the areas of self-care, receptive-expressive language, learning (cognitive), mobility (physical therapy/gross motor), self-direction, personal/social/emotional growth, independent living, economic self-sufficiency consistent with the adopted Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP). Monitors individual student progress and revises IEP/IFSP as needed. Collects and/or charts data to aid in evaluation and assessment of student. Establishes and maintains a structured, positive learning environment. Applies positive behavioral management procedures within administrative guidelines.
 
Minimum Requirements: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college of university is required. Experience working with disabled individuals preferred. Familiarity with the IEP/IFSP process preferred. Possession of valid Ohio Department of Education Certification in special education with endorsement in education of the handicapped.

Substitute Registered Service Assistant
Location: Portage Industries Adult Workshop
 
Example of Job Duties: Responsible for facilitating and supporting the daily activities of individuals with developmental disabilities who have challenging behaviors. Assists full-time Registered Service and/or Certified staff in completing all daily requirements regarding the individuals assigned. Provides support and assistance with regard to all aspects of the daily routine of developmentally disabled individuals including, vocational, social, recreational and behavioral. Develops and utilizes a working knowledge of needs, preferences, specific program plans and personal characteristics of individuals assigned. Provides physical assistance and support when needed. Keeps records and progress notes in accordance with PCBDD and individualized requirements.
 
Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED required. Experience working with people who have developmental disabilities. Additional experience in human services profession is preferred. Able to meet the applicable registration standards established by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities.
 
Physical Demands: Frequently required to stand, walk and lift and move objects. In addition, while assisting people with physical disabilities, must be able to lift, position and transfer individuals.
 
Work Hours: On call as needed. Number of hours worked will vary based upon need and assignment.
 

 
Substitute Vehicle Attendant
Location: Transportation Department
 
Example of Job Duties: Responsible for the loading, unloading and en route care of individuals with developmental disabilities being transported via school bus, mini transit bus, or van. Responsible for the safe and efficient utilization and operation of all equipment needed in the transportation of student/client/consumer (car seats, harness, seat belt, wheelchair locks, wheelchair lifts, etc.). Assist driver on assigned vehicle in daily record keeping and conformance with applicable laws, rules and regulations.
 
Minimum Requirements: Minimum of four (4) years experience driving passenger and other motor vehicles. Experience transporting disabled passengers preferred. Possession of a valid Ohio Driver License. This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
 
Work Hours: On call as needed. Number of hours worked will vary based upon need and assignment.
 

 
Substitute Vehicle Operator w/CDL
Location: Transportation Department
 
Example of Job Duties: Operates motor vehicles (e.g., school buses, mini transit buses, cars, station wagons, vans) in a safe and efficient manner to transport students, residents, clients, consumers and staff to/from a variety of activities (e. g., educational programs, community field trips, medical appointments, court appearances, training programs, athletic activities, recreational activities, related employment activities, etc.). Loads, unloads, and/or assists with loading/unloading passengers, materials and equipment for transport. Schedules, inspects, services and maintains vehicles; maintains and/or prepares required logs and/or reports.
 
Minimum Requirements: Minimum of four (4) years experience driving passenger and other motor vehicles. Experience transporting disabled passengers preferred. Possession of a valid Ohio Commercial Driver License (CDL) with school bus endorsement. This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
