County Commissioners Help Kickoff Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

At their regular weekly meeting on March 5, 2013, Commissioners Kathleen Chandler, Maureen Frederick, and Tommie Jo Marsilio helped staff and individuals receiving services and supports from the Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities kickoff Developmental Disabilities by issuing a Proclamation declaring March 2013 as Developmental Disabilities Month in Portage County. The Proclamation states that the Commissioners “…fully supports efforts to “Look Beyond” an individual’s disability to picture that person’s potential and to discover one’s ability, to fully actualize one’s strengths and gifts and to find a place where positive contributions can be made…”.

Similar Proclamations were also issued by Mayor Jerry Fiala of Kent and Mayor Joseph Bica, Jr. at the Kent and Ravenna City Council meetings on February 20th and March 4th respectively.
