Annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner

Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities hosted its Annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner at Happy Day School on 5/23/13. “Volunteers are Essential” was the theme to recognize those special “stars” that help out in so many ways to support children and adults with developmental disabilities.
This year, we were fortunate to have more than 100 volunteers throughout the year, helping in a variety of ways, putting in countless hours dedicated to our kids, our adults and our programs! These volunteers could be found in a classroom, assisting with parties and field trips, and Parent Council events (Santa’s Shop, the Annual Auction and Craft Show, the Carnival and more). They could also be found assisting the Market Day crew, the Special, The Knights of Columbus basketball shooting contest and bowling tournament, and our special partnership with Kent State University’s Adapted Physical Education Department.
We are thankful for each and every one of the volunteers who enrich the lives of children and adults with disabilities in Portage County. They are truly stars!
